HONORING OUR LEGACY
OUR CHURCH HISTORY
Olive Grove Baptist Church was established in 1905 when a group of Christian believers, led by Reverend B.C. Colbert, organized a church and named it in honor of Mr. Thomas Olive, who donated the land with the stipulation that a church building always remain there.
Reverend A.C. Carter was the first pastor, succeeded by Reverend J.B. Smith, and later Reverend Thomas, who oversaw significant growth. Reverend S.A. Jennings contributed to further expansion, including building a pulpit and choir stand. Reverend F.H. Hall continued the church’s development by ordaining new deacons.

In 1937, Reverend L. Kirkland revitalized the church with renovations and new programs. Following his tenure, Reverend Henry Ingram and later Reverend B.F. Williams made significant contributions, including new installations and organizational improvements. Reverend Robert F. Leverett, starting in 1986, focused on expanding and modernizing the church, including building a new sanctuary in 1991.

The church continued to grow and renovate under various leaders, including new musical equipment, improvements to facilities, and active community engagement. Significant milestones included the organization of new choirs, upgrades to technology, and expansions in programming.
In recent years, the church has continued to grow spiritually and physically, with ongoing improvements and new ministries. The vision includes expanding the fellowship hall and enhancing facilities to better serve the community and the church’s mission.
